Figure skater Cha Jun-hwan tops qualifying short despite missing jumps

Korean figure skating standout Cha Jun-hwan (Korea University) is off to a strong start in his quest to qualify for the Harbin 2025 Asian Winter Games.

Cha competed in the men's single short program at the National Figure Skating Team Trials at the Gimhae Ice Arena today (Tuesday), scoring 40.12 technical elements (TES) and 43.83 composite elements (PCS) for a total of 83.95 points.

The top two finishers at the event, combined with the results of tomorrow's free skate, will qualify for next year's Harbin Winter Asian Games.

Cha Jun-hwan was followed by Lee Si-hyung (Korea University) in second place with a total of 79.31 points.

Cha started off well, 카지노사이트 landing his first jump, a quadruple salchow, but his last jump, a triple axel, was not executed properly and he was penalized for insufficient rotation.

Despite the disappointment, Cha continued his performance and took first place as expected.

Cha also won the men's singles at the International Ice Skating Federation Shanghai Trophy on April 4, continuing his strong start to the season.

In the women's singles, Cha and her Shanghai Trophy teammate Kim Chae-yeon (Surigao) took first place.

Kim scored a total of 72.33 points in the women's single short program, followed by Wee Seo-young (Korea University) in second place with 63.67 points.

The competition doubles as a qualifying event for the World University Games Torino 2025. The top three finishers will be eligible to compete in Turin next January.
